Something new is coming to your library experience this August!

We’re excited to share that the InfoSoup catalog and library account experience will soon be getting a refresh. The updated experience will make it easier to search, discover, and manage your library account.

Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing sneak peeks, helpful tips, and important updates to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

What you can expect:
  • A refreshed catalog experience
  • Improved searching and browsing
  • New features and enhancements
  • Tutorials and helpful resources before launch

There may be a few temporary service interruptions during the transition in August, but we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.

Keep an eye on the InfoSoup website and social media for updates, previews, and more information in the months ahead.

​The Lakes Country Public Library is looking for one or two part-time library assistants for approximately 14-20 hours a week, including days, evenings and some Saturdays. High School diploma or GED required, post-secondary preferred. Applicants must have computer skills.

Duties include: Circulation desk, shelving, adult and children’s programs, and helping patrons with materials and technology. Wage is $15.45 per hour.

Applications are available at the library front desk and on the library's website. Drop applications and resume off at the Lakes Country Public Library front desk or send send them to: Lakes Country Public Library, PO BOX 220, Lakewood, WI 54138.

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. May 18, 2026

Then you're in luck - following are some great resources related to the NVDA screen reader and WAVE browser extensions.

NVDA screen reader

The NVDA (Non-Visual Desktop Access) screen reader is a free, high-quality screen reader that's accessible to all. Follow the steps below to download and learn how to use it:
  1. Download NVDA, a free screen reader that you can download at https://www.nvaccess.org/download/.
  2. Then watch How to navigate a webpage with NVDA shortcuts for beginners (a 6.5-minute YouTube video from Pope Tech) to learn how to use common NVDA shortcuts to navigate and read pages. Below the video, you will see more resources, including:​

WAVE browser extensions

  1. Get the WAVE browser extension. WAVE Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browser extensions are available for testing accessibility directly within your web browser.

Please be advised that "The compliance date for State and local government entities with a total population of 50,000 or more is extended from April 24, 2026, to April 26, 2027. The compliance date for public entities with a total population of less than 50,000, or any special district government, is extended from April 26, 2027, to April 26, 2028." Learn more about the extension here.
